Sunburn and Skin Damage in Bali

The sun in Bali is extremely intense, and even overcast days can result in serious sunburn. For some, it becomes a medical issue.

Risks of Severe Sunburn

  • First- and second-degree burns

  • Fluid loss and dehydration

  • Risk of skin infection in peeling or blistering

  • Long-term: accelerated aging, melanoma

Preventative Measures

  • Use SPF 50+ every 2–3 hours

  • Wear wide-brimmed hats

  • Avoid tanning oils

  • Stay out of the sun between 11am–3pm

  • Fever or chills with a burn

  • Blisters or swelling

  • Infection signs
